Supporting 24/7 Sports Broadcasting from a New Flagship Facility
SportsNet New York (SNY), the official television home of the New York Mets and Jets, recently relocated its broadcast operations from midtown Manhattan to the 50th floor of 4 World Trade Center. As part of this move, SNY integrated a total of 90 new and existing Plura monitors ranging from 9” to 55”. Having relied on Plura monitoring solutions since 2009, SNY continued its long-standing partnership to support uninterrupted 24/7 sports broadcasting across regional and national distribution platforms.

Ensuring Reliability for Continuous Sports Broadcasting
SNY required a monitoring and timing infrastructure capable of supporting uninterrupted, high-pressure sports broadcasting operations. With failure not being an option, the objective was to ensure consistent visual accuracy, operational stability, and long service life across all production, editing, graphics, and control room environments.
Key Operational Requirements
- Support 365-day, 24/7 broadcast operations without downtime
- Maintain consistent color matching across multiple display sizes
- Ensure long-term operational lifespan under continuous use
- Equip all production areas to meet demanding live sports workflows

Standardized Monitoring and Timing with Plura Systems
SNY standardized on Plura Monitoring & Timing solutions across its new World Trade Center facility. A wide range of monitor sizes was deployed, complemented by Plura’s MTDoE technology and SPT Studio Production Timers, delivering accurate timing, SMPTE-calibrated colorimetry, and flexible Ethernet-based deployment.
Key Solution Components
- Deployment of 90 Plura monitors ranging from 9” to 55”
- SMPTE-calibrated colorimetry across all monitoring positions
- MTDoE technology for intelligent Multi-Time Display over Ethernet
- SPT Studio Production Timers with PoE and NTP synchronization
- Unified calibration workflow using a single calibration toolkit
Long-Term Performance Proven in Live Operation
The standardized Plura infrastructure has demonstrated exceptional durability and consistency in SNY’s high-demand environment. With individual monitors reaching over 30,000 operational hours and exceeding five years of continuous service, the systems continue to support reliable live sports broadcasting across regional and national distribution platforms.
Operational Results
- Over 30,000 hours of monitored operation per display
- More than five years of continuous 24/7 service life
- Consistent waveform accuracy and rasterization quality
- Stable operation across control rooms, edit suites, and graphics areas
